Welcome to the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Institute (AAIRI). The goal of AAIRI is to study intelligence, the perception process of human, to produce their possible theories and design intelligent machines, especially intelligent computer programs. Intelligence is manifested in many different ways, including our abilities to speak, remember the reason, perceive, and interact with our physical environment. Design of the tools imitating human abilities is an important task of AI. Applied Artificial Intelligence Research focuses on applications of elements of artificial intelligence to different areas, including automatic control, pattern recognition, robotics, digital signal processing, vision, forecasting, learning, data communication, optimization. AAIRI was established in 2025 under the authority of Near East University. It is built upon the Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Center (AAIRC), which was founded in 2001 by Prof. Dr. Rahib H. Abiyev under Near East University. Many research projects have been carried out in the institute. These include the design of various neural network structures, fuzzy neural and neuro-fuzzy systems, fuzzy wavelet neural networks, type-2 fuzzy neural systems, Z-number–based systems, type-3 fuzzy systems, and evolutionary computation algorithms. These innovations have been applied to a wide range of problems, including system identification and control, image processing, time-series forecasting, pattern recognition, channel distortion equalization, and fuzzy optimization models. Many articles have been published by our researchers in the SCI/SCIE- Journals which are listed in the Web of Science. One of the aims of AAIRI is to create a coherent and visible presence for AI, to support networking and collaboration across the AI community, and to provide a central point of coordination within the institute as well as for external partnerships. Nowadays Applied Artificial Intelligence Research Institute conducts research in many areas of artificial intelligence and uses AI systems for solving tasks in industry, management, engineering, administration, economic and education. AAIRI welcomes academicians, postgraduate, undergraduate students and researchers from different research fields with novel ideas and projects. Prof. Dr. Rahib H.Abiyev
Researchers of AAIRC are instructors, doctorate-, master- and undergraduate students of Near East Univesity. Mor than 15 Ph.D students, near 100 MSc. students have finished their theses in the AAIRI. The researchers of AAIRI have successfully done numbers of research projects and archive success in many robotics competitions. Research Institute for Applied Artificial Intelligence brings together the diverse community in artificial intelligence (AI) at NEU.
